Emergency Continuity Planning Assessment Tool

Emergency continuity planning is the overall process of creating systems of prevention, response and recovery to deal with potential threats and disruptions to service delivery at an organization. In addition to prevention, the goal is to enable ongoing service delivery and operations before and during recovery from an emergency-related disruption.
This tool helps Executive Directors and senior leaders in organizations to assess their current response to the COVID-19 pandemic, anticipate their future needs, identify the required actions to take and determine the resources/supports available to do so. It offers a number of key questions to consider and checklists to help identify the changes that have or may need to take place.

Operational Planning Guide and Templates

The Planning Guide:

This guide helps Boards and Executive Directors to prepare an annual operating plan that maps out the organization’s yearly objectives with proposed steps on how they will be accomplished, all in one document (see Operational Plan Templates). The operational plan takes into consideration budget and human resource constraints as well as a risk assessment in relation to the organizations short-term objectives.  It is intended to complement the implementation of your organization’s Strategic Plan and guide the annual Staff Work Plans.

Risk Management Planning Toolkit

This toolkit offers a systematic and thoughtful approach to help you to address the possible risks facing your organization.  It provides a brief description of what risk management planning is and why you need to do it, and offers tools to help you identify risks and determine your priorities and how/when best to respond.   It has been designed as an operational resource primarily for use by Executive Directors, although non-profit Boards may wish to use it as well.  Boards can also use the OODP Board Risk Management and Financial Oversight Checklist, which can be found in our Governance section.

This Guide is practical and easy to use.   It can help individual staff and staff teams to map out the steps, activities and timelines that align with their program goals and the organization’s strategic directions and key priorities. This Guide  can be downloaded for direct use by staff or you can request OODP facilitation support for a Work Planning Session.
